David Nugent got his 2006/07 campaign off
to a flying start with a hat-trick against Chorley.
The North End hit man came on as a second
half substitute, grabbing three goals in quick succession.Joe
Anyinsah capped off an impressive performance with North End's
3rd goal.
Paul Simpson's Preston didn't impress in
the first half against Chorley, not creating too many chances.
Danny Dichio, whom turned down a move to Brighton during the
week his the cross bar with a looping header.
Simpson made a number of changes for the
second half, bringing on the eventual match winner, David Nugent.
It didn't take long for Nugent to find the net, on 55 minutes
Nugent got on the end of a Simon Whaley cross to tap the ball
home.
Nugent broke through the Chorley defence
to slot the ball home for his second of the afternoon. Nugent
soon after completed his hat-trick with a carbon copy of his
second goal.
Chorley pulled a goal back after some poor
marking. Nugent was set free again down the left side, Nugent
cut inside and rolled the ball home to make it 3-1 to the Yellows.
Nugent deserved his hat-trick, showing he is a cut above.
Joe Anyinsah capped off a excellent display
with a corker of a goal, taking on a couple of defenders to smash
the ball home. Warren Beattie and Sami Mawnene also had good
games as the match ended 4-1. |
